Art at the Abbey

Following the success of the art course at the Abbey, we are pleased to bring you 3 more courses for 2024, starting on Wednesday 17th January.
 An Introduction to Still Life Watercolour Painting

 

 

The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in developing their skills and knowledge in Still Life painting in Watercolours.
Exercises and activities will suit both the inexperienced and the more experienced, as there is always something new to learn.
The course will introduce you to a range of basic watercolour painting techniques, such as colour blending, wet on wet, dry brush and masking
The lessons will be held in the function room of the Abbey and as a result, places will be restricted to a maximum of 20 people.
The course will run on a Thursday afternoon, from 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm.
The aim of the course is simply to offer the opportunity to pursue an interest in art in a local and known setting with an informal and sociable atmosphere.
Each session will be £6, payable on attendance. This will cover the cost of initial materials as well as accompanying Tea and Coffee refreshments.

An Introduction to Still Life Drawing 2024
The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in developing their skills and knowledge in drawing and sketching.
It is suitable for both the inexperienced and the more experienced, as there is always something new to learn.
The course will introduce you to a range of drawing techniques, from the very basics of how to hold a pencil right through to completing a fully modelled and detailed Still Life composition.
The lessons will be held in the function room of the Abbey and as a result, places will be restricted to a maximum of 20 people.
The course will run on a Thursday evening, from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
The aim of the course is simply to offer the opportunity to pursue an interest in art in a local and known setting with an informal and sociable atmosphere.
Each session will be £6, payable upon attendance. This will cover all costs of materials as well as accompanying Tea and Coffee refreshments.

Exercises and activities will suit both the inexperienced and the more experienced, as there is always something new to learn.
The course will introduce you to a range of basic watercolour painting techniques, such as colour blending, wet on wet, dry brush and masking
The lessons will be held in the function room of the Abbey and as a result, places will be restricted to a maximum of 20 people.
The course will run on a Thursday evening, from 7 pm to 9 pm.
